The Peace Agreement

The Comprehensive Peace Agreement (CPA) that was signed 9 of January 2005 gave Southern Sudan self-rule government in the south and allowed the south to vote for an independent or united Sudan in the up coming 2011 referendum.
The peace agreement also gave Southern Sudan security under the Sudan People Liberation Movement Army (SPLMA).
90% of Sudan government soldiers in the south have been redeployed back to the north border according to the line drawn between the South and the north during 1956.
The wealth sharing according the CPA was that oil revenue, which is extracted from the south, should be split between the south and the north. But the south government has been excluded from finance and oil ministries.
Therefore, it does not know how many barrels of oil are produced per day or how much they sell for.

Although the war that has killed approximately 2.5 million people, and displaced 4 million people has officially ended, the untold suffering of the Southern Sudanese can only be alleviated by support from the outside world to renew the life of the Southern Sudanese.
